Using the App
How do I log a catch?
- Tap the large "+" button at the bottom of the screen
- Choose "Photo Upload" (with GPS metadata) or "Manual Entry"
- Enter catch details: species, size, tactic, fly/lure
- Add optional notes
- Tap "Save" to log your catch
Why is location access required?
S.I.F.T. uses your location to provide accurate river conditions, weather data, and fishing scores for your area. Location is also used to automatically tag your catches with GPS coordinates. You can manually enter locations if you prefer not to grant location access, but functionality will be limited.
How do I name a fishing spot?
- Log a catch at the location
- Open the catch in Catch Details
- Tap on the coordinates
- Tap "Name This Location"
- Enter a name (e.g., "My Secret Pool")
What does "Outside S.I.F.T. Network" mean?
This means you logged a catch on a river that isn't currently in our analysis network. Your catch is still saved and mapped, but S.I.F.T. can't provide river-specific conditions or scores for that location. We're constantly expanding our river network!
